Live Sound Reinforcement, Bristol Uni

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Igoe PA is the right company for providing sound reinforcement for any live music event in or near Bristol.

Our EAW front of house sound system powered by a rack of Lab Gruppen amps is literally world class industry standard technology. This coupled with our extensive experience as performers and our comprehensive knowledge of sound engineering make us the best possible choice for putting on live bands.

04/06/08

The Langford vet school (part of the University of Bristol) contracted us to provide live sound reinforcement for their summer ball. The Venue was the Cadbury Country Club near Congresbury.

We supplied an 8k EAW system with Martin Audio monitoring. We also supplied all microphones, stands and cables. We used a Midas venice mixing desk with Klark Technik EQ, DBX compressors and Drawmer Gates, TC D2 delay and Yamaha SPX 990 effects.

It was a great night

Fashion Show : SAKS Hair & Beauty

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

31/05/08

We were approached by SAKS hair &  beauty based in the David Lloyd leisure centre in Long Ashton.

They wanted to put on a Fashion Show to showcase their hairdressing prowess. In addition they wanted a live band.

The ceiling was only about 7 ft high so we built the lowest catwalk in history.

We made sure to provide plenty of lighting to ensure the models hair sparkled and the clothes looked their best. 16 x 500 watt par cans on dimmers hooked up to a basic dmx lighting desk.

We bought in the Pete Trill band as they are a great audience pleaser and very easy to work with. We supplied a live sound rig with 2 x 18″ bins, 2 x 12″ tops and 3 x floor wedges all powered by Crown. We used an A&H desk with a rack of BSS eq and DBX outboard. It sounded great.

It was a great night but nobody paid any attention to the band which was a travesty as they display some of the best musicianship in the UK.

Monday, November 17th, 2008

24/05/08

We were contracted to supply live sound equipment and lighting with an engineer for a wedding at the westbury-on-trym village hall.

We supplied half of our EAW rig with single 18″ bass bins, double 12″ mids and 10″ / 1″ tops. All powered by Crown. It sounded fantastic but was a little too loud for the owners of the venue - they had to ask our engineer to turn it down !

We also supplied all live sound equipment including all mics, d.i.’s, desk and outboard.

In addition we put together a simple dancefloor lighting rig with 2 x VRX gladiators and 2 x VRX flat scanners hung on a section of truss. We also provided some 500 watt par can stage lights on a wind up stand.

Everyone had a wonderful time and even the venue staff lightend up a bit by the end :0)

This gig was engineered by Ben & Alex

“The PA was more than enough for the Bath Pavilion. Everyone remarked that the sound was fantastic. I only wish we could have tested it in the venue with a full band. We only had a solo classical guitar running through 20 kW all night !”

Live Sound Engineering

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

26/04/08

We were booked to provide live sound equipment, engineering and lighting.

We supplied half of our brand new EAW rig. The half rig is powered by one Lab Gruppen fp6400 and 2 x Crown XTi4000 amps.

The monitoring rig consists of 4 x Martin Audio monitor wedges and an EAW drum fill - all powered by Crown.

Most EAW stacks I have seen consist of two cabinets - the SB850 subs (like ours) and the KF850 tops. The KF850’s have a single 15″ driver with a 10″ and 1 & 1/4″ CD.

Our 3 box stack has a 10″ / 1 & 1/4 ” top box (AS490) and a dual 12″ bass/mid box (AS422e) which really delivers between 70 - 400 hZ.  The bass/mid is crisp & punchy and the overall detail is spectacular.

On this gig we supplied an Allen & Heath GL2400 desk, Drawmer / BSS outboard and Shure/AKG mics.

For lighting we supplied 8 x 500 par 64 cans, 2 x V~R-8 scans and 2 x VRX Gladiatots, Martin Jem smoke and Atomic 3000 strobe.

The EAW rig absolutely blew our socks off - no wonder the biggest and best toruring companies in the world rely on EAW every time.

We would say this…. but honestly this is the best sounding rig we have heard - definitely the best live sound rig available for hire in Bristol.

Live Band Sound & Lighting

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

The Polish Club is one of Bristol’s best small live music venues. Situated in the heart of Clifton it has long been established as a top little club for parties and gigs.

13/04/08

We were booked to supply sound reinforcement and engineering for a gig by a local 6 piece band at the Polish club.

Igoe Pa was founded to provide a quality service for live bands in Bristol. Although a lot of our work is for events, weddings and parties our team are all muscians at heart so we relish any opportunity to engineer for bands. We take immense pride in our work and want to do the best possible job every time.

We supplied part of our new EAW rig (the mids & tops) but used smaller bass bins as otherwise it’s a bit too loud for the venue who are always very considerate about their neighbours.

Using industry standard mics, our Alen & Heath 24 channel desk and a rack of decent outboard we made sure the sound was top notch.

We also supplied some basic lighting, 8 par cans and a pair of Abstract moonflowers.
